About Airco
Friday, 18 January 2008

AIRCO is an industry trade organization dedicated to the safe and professional rental of inflatable moonwalks, slides, games, and other small amusement devices.

AIRCO has been established to:

  • Promote the moonwalk industry as a whole.
  • Promote safe and professional operation of inflatable amusements. We want to head off accidents, bad publicity, and insurance increases by ensuring that all operators have access to safety information.
  • Allow safe operators to set themselves apart from garage, fly-by-night operations who are uninsured and do not practice safe procedures.
  • Build a public awareness campaign so that consumers know the right questions to ask and what to look for in an inflatable rental company.
  • Keep our members up to date on the latest products, sales, promotions and trends in the industry.
  • Keep a close eye on restrictions, legislation, and other things that affect our industry.

What's In It For You?

A warm fuzzy feeling for being a part of industry improvement.

OK,OK, there is more. When you become a member, you will:

  • Be able to use the AIRCO seal on your website and marketing to set yourself apart from other rental operators in your area. This logo will link to a customer information page letting customers know that by being part of AIRCO, you are committed to safe procedures, clean equipment, proper instruction, great customers service and you carry insurance.
  • Receive a monthly private newsletter with updates, articles, events, and opportunities for members.
  • Have access to industry research reports and updates.
  • Benefit from our national level marketing plan to raise awareness of safe inflatable operation and region-specific advertising promoting local AIRCO members.
  • Recieve AIRCO-specific marketing materials that you can use in your area.
  • Monthly "town hall" meetings in the chat room to voice your opinions, ideas, and comments about AIRCO and hear what's going on.
  • Attend regional meetings and get-togethers that can help build business relationships and raise awareness of proposed legislation that affects your region.
  • Attend the AIRCO drink-and-greet, I mean, meet-and-greet meeting at the IAAPA show.
  • Have access in the future to affordable insurance. When we reach critical mass of 500 members willing to invest in the self-insured plan, we will be able to negotiate and set up an administered plan for members. Possibly sooner, but that is our goal.

How Much Does AIRCO Cost?

AIRCO membership is free at this time. In order to become a member, you will need to fill out a detailed survey about your business anually. This will further our efforts to benchmark the growth of the industry, monitor accidents and unsafe equipment, and keep tabs on changing trends such as accessory items or company sizes.

I don't want to be an AIRCO member... will I get shut out of the forum?

No way, Jose! The forum will remain free to all, as will the monthly Airco Advisor newsletter and many, many of the resources we are creating to help promote and educate about our industry will be available to all.

{Members may elect to receive both the public and the private newsletter- they will each be mailed out once a month.}

There are lots of other plans in the works, so expect more to come.

Who's Running This Show Anyway?

I am the executive director, but I won't be doing all the decision-making for AIRCO. I will be working to implement things on the site, get the newsletters out, and spearhead the different campaigns and projects to keep them on track.

However, AIRCO will be run by the members! We will have a board of 5 officers and a team of committee heads making decisions and moving us forward. My role is to make sure things get done. Directors will accept 2-year terms, with 2 up for a vote one year and 3 up for a vote the next.

If you are interested in taking an active role in AIRCO, please PM me. (If you are already on the steering team, you don't need to do anything.)

Who's Paying for All This?

We will have corporate sponsors (advertisers) that will cover the cost of running the board, issuing the newsletters and special events. We will only accept advertisers who offer a value to our members.

Excess funds after paying for the associated costs of running the organization will go into member marketing collateral and other projects as the steering team dictates.
